Formed in 2005 with the purpose of exploring early Italian repertoire, La Fiorenza is a group of young musicians who met while studying in the Early Music program at McGill University.
La Fiorenza focuses on different aspects of the musical traditions alive in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Italy, emphasizing the vocal compositions of the seconda prattica, the virtuosity of the violin, and the elaboration of the basso continuo.
United by passion for this exciting music, the members of La Fiorenza have diverse backgrounds and musical and academic interests. The result is an ensemble which is sensitive to musical nuances and eager to explore different musical traditions.
La Fiorenza is based in Montreal, where it will soon begin its fourth season of concerts.
